The company
Net Surfing is a software house founded in 1995 in Ivrea - Italy by a group of professionals coming from Olivetti’s Research and Development department. The main aim is to merge the “cultures” of research and technology. It has a multidisciplinary team of specialists in innovation, interaction design and software engineering and half of its personnel holds a PhD or is a PhD student - this ensures a qualified, motivated staff and a constant interest in research. Targets are reached by staying on top of new business models and web development.
Specific competence is devoted to in Enterprise Asset management and maintenance engineering. Participating in European research and feasibility projects is a priority for the company in order to maintain its state of the art knowledge and its interest in 
transferring research results into its systems of workflow management, virtual catalogues, content management; customer relationship management, customer behaviour tracking.
Net Surfing invests around the 15% of the turnover to Research & Development.

Asset Management
The management of corporate assets is a job to be delegated to a software platform, especially for those companies where the assets are numerous.
An asset is an entity owned by the company, interested in tracing the life cycle. Its optimal management is becoming increasingly important.

Web Gis
Net Surfing provides a dedicated server to handle maps and to host WebGis applications.
WebGIS applications allow the distribution of geospatial data in Internet and Intranet networks, using the analysis derived from GIS software and by means of classical features of web-based applications, publish geographical information on the World Wide Web.
We can summarize the operative process of a WebGIS as follows:
- the user, through a browser, sends a request where are defined the area of interest (geographical area to display) and the content that wants to access (list of layer of interest);
- the engine of WebGIS, according to the data received, enters and searches in its archives the required information (like shape files, TIFF, etc.); through a database connection or through other map servers,the portion of the specified territory will be extracted; then the images generated will be sent to the client.
E-Commerce
Net Surfing offers solutions for e-commerce that are based on software Zen Cart ™, a "free open source" software.
This allows to concentrate the whole customer investment in customising the store itself, both in aesthetics and functionality aspects.
The choice of the software comes from a selection process and comparison of the various proposals, and has been performed especially on the basis of the flexibility of the solution.
For this Open Source Platform, Net Surfing is able to implement new features or special configurations.
In this context, we can mention the following extensions that have already been completed:
- Multiple shipments ability to send the goods purchased with a single shopping cart to multiple recipients
- Greeting card ability to attach a personalized greeting card to the bundle of products purchased
- Shopping center an environment composed of multiple eshops cart with a single shopping cart.
Content Management System
