07 Aug Net Surfing initiative on the BIM – Building Information Modelling
BIM: we have activated a “Collaboration Table” with some very specialized companies (extremely qualified in their own business sector). This Collaboration Table has defined the goal of standardizing the approach of the Asset Management phase and has defined the Data Extraction Protocol to transfer data from the BIM Model into the IFC format.
The BIM methodology is rapidly emerging in the Big Projects area and, the best Engineering / Architecture design companies already have good control over the BIM tools and processes.
In a BIM Project Life-Cycle, the Design and Construction phases are already mostly digitalized while, the following phases, and in particular the Enterprise Asset Management & Maintenance phase (for the “Asset Lifecycle Management”), hardly ever reach the maturity level and do not share the necessary know-how needed to guarantee the expected performance.
This happens because in the Asset Lifecycle Management modelling phase there are several very important and critical steps that require the data extraction to be conducted in a specifically designed frame that should fit consistently with the Asset Management & Maintenance Project Goals.
Based on this awareness, we have activated this “Collaboration Table”.
